Responding to the Claim That Judaism Is ‘Inferior’ to Catholicism

How to respond to a Catholic acquaintance’s claim that Judaism is somehow inferior or incomplete.

Q. How should I respond to Catholic people that state that Judaism its inferior and not good compared with their religion?

Despite the fact that Judaism can easily answer any question or debate, and also, the problems with Catholicism are obvious (as convincingly shown by the Protestants), nevertheless, in general, we don’t debate with other religions, simply because this often leads to anti-Semitism and most people aren’t really open or objective. In addition to the fact that Judaism is very tolerant and not at all interested in converting others, it’s very rare for a gentile to really be interested in what other religions have to say (especially the people you are referring to!), so it’s better off to leave them alone (especially outside of Israel, where we are a tiny minority), and simply point out, that opposed to them, Judaism is tolerant of other religions and we prefer not convincing others. If he thinks it’s because we don’t have answers, tell him to Google the debates of the Ramban who decisively defeated Pablo Christiani, despite being forbidden to ask questions (but he then had to flee for his life)!
